We are not a democracy, we are a republic. a democracy only serves the majority by all citizens voting. In a republic, we elect representatives to represent our interests for us. As long as we keep on them, they will be held accountable. The whole reason all hell has broken loose in Washington is because people do not fight for the constitution. If we all defended each other on constitutional issues even when it doesn't concern us, we would not be in this mess.

The politicians use the fact that we fight among ourselves to do whatever they want. We should fight to protect each other's freedoms from the government, then everything else will work itself out.

Even the wall street mess owes itself to the government. The mass corporate takeover of america has roots in the government who over-regulated smaller companies until they grew to defend themselves, becoming just as dangerous in the long run themselves.

Just saying, 100 years ago, 50% owned 90 % of the wealth, rather than the 1 vs the 99. The companies are a direct result of government action, so we should be fighting the root cause, not the side affects.

This is in the same category of inanity as U.S. Representative (D) Hank Johnson stating his concerns about posting more U.S. troops to Guam. "My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize." And of course Sheila Jackson Lee is famous for her rabid nonsense. No amount of cover by staffers can hide the idiocy of some of our "people's representatives." As has been observed, at least this way they do represent us.

You're right about legal = legitimate.

But...
"When a girl sleeps around, gets herself knocked up, then claims it was rape in order to avoid the consequences of her actions, that is not legitimate rape"

Actually, until there, you WERE right.
Not because it is illegitimate rape... but because it isn't rape... legit or non-legit. It's just lying.

The entire concept of illegitimate rape is nonsense.

Re your "Could be but who knows" category:
If it weren't so sad, it would make me laugh. Methinks that, unfortunately, there is plenty evidence for that mechanism not to exist, as many knocked-up victims of rape would be unhappy to tell you.

Oh, and of the innumerable transitional forms is what you use to run your car on. The transition never ends. ;-)
