ChuckleADuck is a webcomic that examines atheism, religion, politics, and general silliness from its own unique perspective. Its audience includes atheists, evangelicals, the spiritual, the cynical, young, old, liberals, conservatives and the occasional space alien.
To be fair, we`re not all like that, but the ones that are think the ones that aren`t cannot be `true believers`,so I guess it depends on who you ask. I`m still trying to figure out where they keep finding the right to stick there nose in everybody else`s lives in the Bible. You`d think they have enough problems of their own.
Totally agree with Kiwi on the strip. The ability to look at the news and state the obvious is a gift, Winston!
Yeah. It is one thing to say that an individual holds opposing views. Its another thing to say that two members of the same group hold opposing views.
This could just as easily be a political cartoon. Replace every instance of “Christian” with “Congress”. It even works with the last statement: “By that measure, Congressmen are frick’n geniuses”.
You are the wind beneath my…um…fur? (Wolves don’t have wings, unfortunately!)
Seriously though; between FOX “news”, Texas attempting to secede, & the always “enlightened” rantings of the NRA lately I often forget that not everybody in this damned country has lost all their marbles! It’s nice to be reminded that there are still folks out there capable of using that god-given/nature-enhanced chunk ‘o grey matter between their ears for actual thought…& aren’t afraid to call a spade a spade when they see one! (FOX news of course will be quick to explain that spades don’t really exist & that they are really just upside-down hearts painted black with a small stem added which are being twisted around by the “Liberal media” in an effort to link playing cards with with some sort of imagined attack on “family values” or some other such nonsense.)
Anyway, I just had to come out of “lurk mode” to say kudos…so, “kudos!”
Quite a verbose little bird brain. Claiming that christians are praying for the eradication of homosexuals is akin to claiming that all muslims are praying for the eradication of infidals. Where did birdie get it’s idea that Jesus ever called for the eradication of anyone? He taught the very opposite , turn the other cheek, pray for your enemies, don’t repay evil with evil but return good for evil, take care of orphans and widows, …..
He’s generalizing; there are “Christians” out there who hold such outrageous views and actual Christians out there who don’t. His problem is likely his limited exposure to religious views in general and the ones with the craziest views are usually the loudest and most visible.
To be fair to him, the ones calling for the eradication of homosexuals (and themselves the only true believers of course) are usually the loudest ones. So it’s actually quite easy to get to this misconception.
As for the “akin to claiming that all muslims…” by the way: I’ve met a good amount of people who actually seem to think so. And if confronted with an example to the opposite go something like “Well he is not a problem of course! But muslims are different! They all are a problem!” I then remind them, that the guy is a muslim. They repeat the aforementioned sentences. I shake my head, give up and order another beer to distract me from the sheer stupidity.
Worst of all is, they are not dumb! Some of them are even quite intelligent people! But then they get something like this stuck in their heads and wouldn’t even be able to see reason if I drummed it into their heads with a pickaxe (which I’m sometimes veeeery tempted to try).
There was also something about giving away all your wealth to the poor and needy, yet some of the most loudly proclaimed Christians are rich indeed.
I believe the Movie Kapax (spelling?) had a meaningful quote: “Buddha and Jesus had the right idea. The problem is that no one listens to them. Not even the Buddhists or the Christians.”
Plenty of people call themselves Christians while directly contradicting Christian values, many of which contradict each other if you include the whole Bible and all the contributing authors. Leviticus, so lovingly quoted for abuse of homosexuals, forbids getting any tattoos or eating any type of shellfish for a start.
“All Indians walk in a single file. At least the one I saw did.” Leonard, a Vaudeville comic.
All Athiests don’t believe in God is a true statement (unlike the panel above which paints with such a broad prejudicial brush dipped in false syllogism) but which one don’t they believe in is another matter.
On the surface the panel may ring true but is that really enough for a scientist? Should not one go beyond superficial and casual classification?
YoWhat you fail to do is mention that in Muslim countries homosexuals are stoned to death with approval from both their religious and government leaders. Last time I checked there has yet to be a stoning other than drug use here. Also the part of the Bible you are referring to is not the teachings of Jesus, just as homosexuality is called a sin, so is anger/wrath and lusting after a person of the opposite sex.. You want to bash religion, hoe about the hindu’s that believe after her husbands death a wife should immolate themselves.
While that is true, in America they are minority of religion which would make it difficult to make jokes about (I mean that youtube video that made fun of Muhammad so much rage I mean Jesus gets bashed thousands more, but cultures differ). If you notice comedians, black comedians talk about black people, latino comedians talk about latino people, indian comedians talk about indian people, I mean how many white comedians do you see make jokes about minorities (excluding Tosh since he makes fun of everyone) very few. Many people are unaware of other religions’ dark sides and rarely anyone brings it up, so thank you for bringing the point up.
Then why are so many christians against giving homosexuals the same rights as hetrosexuals?
Why do christians attribute miracles to their god (and only their god) but not when bad things happen or the miracle fails to happen? It’s a case of “heads I win, tails you lose”.
It would be fair to say that all christians believe in the god mentioned in the Old and New Testament. It would also be fair to say that all christians believe that their god is good.
Now the important question is, do christians also believe it is wrong to impregnate a twelve year old girl without her consent? If the answer is yes then you have the two contradicting ideas because the god in the NT did indeed knock up Mary when she was twelve (possibly eleven) without telling her and thus without her consent. So you have a good god doing an evil thing.
You can make a similar case for the biblical god doing things we can agree are evil like slavery and/or genocide. In that case you have christians making excuses why it’s not evil if their god does it.
But the panel is really really clever
Thanks, my friend!

Yup, I completely agree. And yes, Winston is an insightful cockatoo!

Thanks Zirconia! Much appreciated. If you’re a stumbler, please consider doing so to spread the message.

Well shÂ¥t I’m going to hell for eating shrimp
Only if your Jewish or allergic.
I’m double damned, lol. Thrice, if you consider my being a Wiccan. :p (>_<)

You do know that not ALL Christians are like that, and the fanatics are just a small but vocal minority, right?
Then why are so many christians against giving homosexuals the same rights as hetrosexuals?
