Changes to the toon

Time for a look at how toons can change. Thursday's ChuckleADuck was originally done in a purely black and white format and the characters were very restrained. When it came time to post it, I looked and decided that it needed more visual punch. Sometimes an emotionally flat look is best for the gag but this time I decided that wasn't the case. That being so, it wasn't hard to break out the stylus and go to work. The original and final are shown below and the individual expressions are shown as well, since that's what the whole point of the redo really was and they're a bit too shrunkified to see well in the complete version.

What do you think?

Redid the ChuckleADuck banner, nav buttons and generally moved things here and there. Increased the size of the crowtoon as well! What do you think?

Oh, and I added a bunch of social media buttons. So feel free to like, like, like! With a plus 1 thown in for good measure!

From where?

A question that I get, and that most cartoonists (and writers in general) get, is "Where do you get your ideas?" Well, I thought I'd share one of them. I simply pick up the pencil and draw. Usually I'll just start with a doodled shape and have absolutely nothing in mind. And I'll see where it leads me. Or sometimes I'll say "I wanna draw a dragon." So I do. Here's an example from a couple of days back:

I didn't begin thinking it'd be a person but eventually the doodle solidified and I saw the person lurking within. So I drew him.

The next question is "What now?" This is where I let my subconscious work. I'll just keep him in the back of my mind, knowing I want him to be inolved in something funny. As of now I have absolutely zero clue as to what that might be. But I hate wasting work so keep your eyes peeled. I'm sure he'll be showing up, fully rendered, one day soon.

Oh, and if you haven't yet liked Crowtoon Studios, I'd appreciate it if you would!
